April 2010:
As I was flying down to Texas last week for the world premiere of my new
movie WALKING DISTANCE at the Dallas International Film Festival I felt an
overwhelming sensation of gratitude; to my supportive family, loving
friends but especially to my incredible fans.
Here I was returning to “on-camera” & the "BIG" screen some 29 years later
after a two decade career in voice-overs & looping! A film “comeback” at
this stage of the game? Seriously, I ask you, who else gets to do that?
My life is & has been filled with joy & passion... okay, so there were a
couple of years of “nasty stuff” in there but I survived just like my
sweet Alice in Friday the 13th! And, I think that's why I bond with so
many of my fans (who usually become fast friends) so much... I mean,
aren't we all survivors in one way or another?
So this is really a thank-you letter to all my fabulous fans around the
world. You have had such an incredible amount of influence over my acting
career in so many ways. Insisting on my return… I thank you for
resurrecting “Adrienne King”, the actress, from the dead. I am officially
the "grateful undead" now; as I discovered playing Louise Strack, my
unique & complex character in WALKING DISTANCE. It really got the blood
pumping again; playing in the trenches with such giving & talented actors,
surrounded by truly gifted & passionate filmmakers.
I still love to act in front of the camera! Who knew? I wouldn't have...
if it hadn't been for so many of all you. A couple of necessary
shout-outs:
Mel House, the "genius"; the real thing; a visionary in so many ways:
you’ll be hearing & seeing lots more from this remarkable
Writer/Director/Producer. Such an original & awesome script as well as the
full-on "independent" experience! This movie totally rocks & kills…
simultaneously! James LaMarr, Producer extraordinaire, so very talented &
an extremely supportive magician! Phil Roy, phenom-DP, Marcus Koch, Shelb,
Kat; wicked special effects & Ted Geoghegan (Writer/Producer) who
introduced me to Mel & James & my first "on-camera" movie role since
Friday the 13th Part 2!
As sweet & surreal a Texas evening as one could ever hope to enjoy…walking
the distance on the red carpet at DIFF… flashbulbs were a’poppin'… we were
all giving interviews left & right… feeling so blessed in all ways
possible & to be sharing something so cool with so many of my wonderful
WALKING DISTANCE family…. I stood back, took a deep breath in and savored
it all….
Strack is back & you better watch out!
You've been warned!!!
With gratitude,
Adrienne |
